Privacy notice

Information collected

When you vote, the site stores a random browser identifier, the chosen café, the time of the vote and a privacy-preserving risk signal used to detect unusual voting. When you nominate a venue, it stores the details you submit.

Why it is used

Information is used to operate the vote, prevent duplicate or automated voting, verify nominations, investigate suspicious patterns and publish aggregate results.

Optional analytics

If you choose “Allow analytics”, Google Analytics records information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and interactions including scrolling and outbound link clicks. Analytics is not loaded unless you consent, and your choice is stored in your browser. The site does not use advertising trackers.

What is not sold

Personal information and individual voting records are not sold. Aggregate vote totals may be published.

Retention and requests

Pilot records are retained while results are reviewed and the service is evaluated. Requests for access, correction or deletion can be sent to hello@bestcafe.au.

Service providers

The site is hosted using OpenAI Sites and its managed infrastructure. Google Analytics is used only when a visitor consents.

Pilot privacy notice updated 19 September 2026. It should be reviewed before commercial launch or email verification is introduced.
